[36:02] What’s that one advice that you want to give it away to our listeners?

In-Short:

Question: Why do you think podcasting is important for every business and every individual?

Partha: Everybody has a story, and that’s literally the bottom line for anything. I mean, when you were growing up, did textbooks interest you, or did stories interest you? Interesting stories.

That’s exactly the difference between what you have and you’re talking about written content, which is what you hear in the podcast. Podcasts are more storytelling. That’s more about picking the pace at which you share information. And building a narrative out of it.

Question: What are some of the ways of a podcast to monetize and what are some of the mistakes that people assume with monetization?

Partha: Let me start with the mistakes. The first thing that most people assume is you need an audience. I mean, most people assume that monetization equals advertising. Yes, that’s true to some extent. But that’s not the only way of monetizing. And that advertising is based only on the audience size that you have.

Now let’s come to what does monetization like? Monetization could be anything. So, for example, if in the process of my podcasting, somebody comes to me and says, Partha, I really love your content. I believe that your audience is awesome. I’d like to sponsor your trip to the U.S. and you will get a full, all expenses paid for this trip to go and cover this event and come back. Is that not monetary value?

Question: What mistakes did you make while starting off with your podcast?

Partha: I got so caught up in creating content that I forgot who I was making it for. And I was doing it all for myself. And honestly, it’s not even a mistake. It’s just a tangent that I went on. It’s like I went out on a networking spree and I was like, oh, you come on my podcast, you come on my podcast. And I was overextending myself. I never got to plan my episodes properly. And I never actually got around to recording half of them. It hurt my network. It hurt my credibility. So that was one thing that I had to go and repair.

Question: How do you go about attracting the right advertisers to your podcast?

Partha: One of the most important things for advertisers or advertising is that the brand needs to resonate with the content that’s been created on the show.

Question: How do you basically go about promoting your podcast, like can you share some ideas with us?

Partha: The first way you need to do is obviously force it down the throat of your friends and family. And I’m not even joking about that.

The second big thing that you need to do is obviously go out onto social media, talk about it, engage with the audience.

Question: What’s that one advice that you want to give it away to our listeners?

Partha: The one advice. Find a niche that works for you. That’s very important.
